The Belize Newspaper history

The Times began publishing in 1956 under the patronage of then leader George Price (1. Prime Minister of Belize in 1981), who had just ousted ten members of the PUP from its Central Committee, including Phillip Goldson, owner and editor of the Belize Billboard.

The Reporter began in 1967 by publisher Harry Lawrence, who has authored every issue since. It featured local news, business reports and other information on Belize

Amandala  was established on August 13, 1969 Amandala began as a stenciled spreadsheet given out by members and supporters of UBAD in the streets of Belize City. After the third issue was published, UBAD officials decided to begin selling the paper for five cents a copy.
